Membership in Soroptimist is a privilege. As members we have certain
obligations to each other and our club. Included in these obligations is regular
attendance at club meetings and participation in fund raising and community
projects.
Who Can Join:
Soroptimists are women and men of all ages, cultures and ethnic groups. They
represent a wide array of professions. Soroptimists are leaders in their
communities and believe they can make the world a better place.
Classifications of Membership:
► “Regular Members” - are those working in a profession or business or in a
comparable status or responsibilities.
► “Retired/unemployed Members” - are those recently retired from or temporarily
out of work for a profession or business or an occupation of comparable status.
► “Embarking Members” - are those who are in the process of establishing careers
or professions, whether just entering the workforce or in training.
Benefits of Membership:
- Develop friendships
- Community improvement though involvement
- Develop leadership skills.
- Service as a role model for young women and girls
- Promote diversity
- Establish networking
SI Albany Monetary Commitment:
Dues: $111.75 Initial Payment
$82.75 Annually thereafter
Lunch: $10.00
Brag Bucks: $1.00 per brag
Dollar Grow: $25.00 - Voluntary
SI Albany Time Commitment:
Meetings – 1st and 3rd Tuesday, Noon to 1:00 pm except during the summer.
Participation in Committees and Fundraisers – varies according to committee and
event.
Attending District and Region Meetings – Recommended but not mandatory, usually
one to three days.
Membership in Soroptimist International is by invitation. If you are interested
