Christmas Gifts for Department of Human Service (DHS)) Clients

SI of Albany shopped for items on the wish lists of 21 children. Additionally, members brought gifts for children who had not had an opportunity to make a wish list because they came into the system after lists were collected. It was estimated that approximately 70 children received gifts from Soroptimists.

Collection and Donation of Toiletries.

SI of Albany donated sample-sized toiletries to the Department of Human Services, Helping Hands Shelter, and the House of Engedi.

Donation for Albany Youth Shelter

SI of Albany donated $500 to the Jackson Street Youth Shelter, Inc. to open a youth shelter in Albany. The goal for the program is “to promote safety, stability, and well-being for youth.” They work to prevent homelessness by showing a path to long-term success through building positive relationships and skills for self-sufficiency.

Peanut Butter & Jelly for the Youth Center

Peanut butter, jelly and a check for $50 for the purchase of bread was delivered to the Cornerstone Youth Outreach Center (CYOC) to supply after-school snacks for the month of January. CYOC is a youth drop-in center located in Albany, OR and is part of the outreach of the Jackson Street Youth Shelter.

Kitchen Shower for the House of Engedi
Oregon’s first shelter home for adult women who have been sex trafficked opens in February 2014. SI of Albany held a kitchen shower for them the first meeting in January.

Valentine Gift Bags for Cancer Patients
This is the fourth year that treat bags have been provided for cancer patients in Albany and Lebanon. SI of Albany prepared 60 treat bags for patients receiving infusion treatments during the week of Valentine’s Day.

Pizza with the Easter Bunny
The ESD Committee hosted an all-you-can-eat pizza feed at Ciddici’s Pizza in downtown Albany. Five Easter baskets were raffled off. Approximately $1,200 was raised to support the projects of the ESD Committee.
